“THE WAVE NZ is Aotearoa’s newest dance intensive, celebrating and showcasing the next wave of young, up-and-coming choreographers. THE WAVE NZ aims to encourage aspiring dance artists to step forward, dive deep, and pave the way for a more collaborative and fulfilling dance community in Aotearoa. Our primary focus is uplifting the younger generation and inspiring those that wish to have a future in the dance world.

THE WAVE NZ intensives feature dance workshops facilitated by a range of up-and-coming/Next-Gen choreographers in the Hip Hop/Street Dance scene. Tutors are invited to join a constantly expanding faculty of creatives, meaning that each intensive is different to the other and is specially crafted to give the best experience possible for dancers attending by featuring a range of different styles.

We created this platform with just one small conversation and our minds set on the goal of uplifting, inspiring, and sharing. Created by the Next-Gen for the Next-Gen, we’re all about bringing together different dance communities that don't usually share space together in non-competitive environments. What started as something small has quickly turned into something special, and we are looking forward to seeing what THE WAVE NZ can help accomplish in our dance scene!”
